Senior Quantity Surveyor – Surrey

Linum Consult is supporting an established international main contractor seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take a key commercial role within its UK operations in Surrey.

This is a broad position offering considerably more than traditional project quantity surveying. You will have responsibility across commercial management, contracts, procurement, cost control and financial performance, working closely with senior management and helping to strengthen the commercial processes supporting the company's construction activities.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the contractual and commercial performance of multiple projects, with responsibilities including:

  • Developing and implementing cost-management strategies to maximise project performance and profitability
  • Overseeing project financial reporting, management accounts and business-planning activities
  • Managing commercial and contractual risk throughout the project lifecycle
  • Reviewing and negotiating JCT contracts, subcontract agreements, purchase orders and associated terms and conditions
  • Working alongside legal advisors to identify and mitigate contractual exposure
  • Ensuring contracts and supporting documentation are properly reviewed and executed before works commence
  • Working closely with procurement and accounts teams to improve commercial controls and procurement strategy
  • Developing and maintaining the company's subcontractor database and supply-chain information
  • Maintaining visibility of live and pending contracts, warranties and commercial obligations
  • Supporting the implementation and integration of Xero and Eque2 financial systems
  • Ensuring commercial activities comply with company procedures and relevant UK regulations

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
