Senior Quantity Surveyor
We are currently working on behalf of one of the UK’s leading housebuilders to appoint a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial delivery on a regional flagship development.
This is a key commercial appointment on a major, long-term residential scheme, providing total commercial ownership from early procurement stages through to final accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full commercial responsibility for the region’s flagship residential development, ensuring strict financial control and target margin delivery.
- Lead trade package procurement, tender analysis, subcontractor negotiations, and order placements.
- Oversee monthly cost reporting, prepare detailed CVRs (Cost Value Reconciliations), and manage accurate cash flow forecasting.
- Conduct regular site valuations, review subcontractor payment applications, and resolve variations and claims promptly.
- Collaborate closely with the technical and construction teams to identify value engineering solutions and manage site buildability costs.
- Oversee material procurement strategies and monitor ongoing site expenditure against set budgets.
- Manage final account settlements with all trade contractors and specialist suppliers.
- Mentor and develop assistant or intermediate surveyors within the commercial department.

About You
- Proven track record operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or established Quantity Surveyor ready for step-up within volume housebuilding or residential development.
- In-depth understanding of standard residential build stages, groundworks, traditional housing, and RC frame / apartment schemes where relevant.
- Comprehensive background running major residential developments and producing robust monthly CVRs.
- Strong contractual awareness, negotiation capability, and dispute avoidance skills.
- Confident communicator with high commercial acumen and sharp analytical ability.
