Senior Quantity Surveyor | Leeds | Civil Engineering

A well-established civil engineering contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take a leading role within its commercial team.

This is an opportunity for a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor who enjoys taking ownership of projects, managing commercial performance and working closely with operational teams to deliver successful outcomes.

The successful individual will take responsibility for a portfolio of civil engineering projects while also supporting and developing members of the wider commercial team.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will have responsibility for the commercial and financial management of multiple projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Taking full commercial responsibility for a portfolio of civil engineering projects
  • Managing project costs, budgets, forecasts and financial performance
  • Leading monthly commercial reviews and CVRs
  • Forecasting final project costs, revenue and margins
  • Managing variations, change control and contractual matters
  • Preparing and submitting valuations and applications for payment
  • Overseeing subcontractor accounts, payments, variations and final accounts
  • Reviewing and preparing contractual correspondence
  • Providing commercial and contractual advice to project and operational teams
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies
  • Maintaining accurate contractual and commercial records
  • Producing commercial reports for senior management
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Supporting tender and pre-construction activity where required
  • Managing, mentoring and supporting members of the commercial team

About You

To be considered, you will have a strong background as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or an experienced Quantity Surveyor ready to step into a more senior role.

  • Experience working for a civil engineering contractor
  • A strong understanding of commercial and contractual management
  • Experience managing multiple projects or a portfolio of works
  • The ability to take ownership of project commercial performance
  • Experience leading or supporting junior members of a commercial team
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A proactive and detail-focused approach to commercial management
