Experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our successful Term Maintenance Business Unit. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the commercial management of our long-term highways maintenance contracts, supporting the delivery of planned maintenance, reactive works and emergency response projects across London and the South East.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the commercial activities across a portfolio of contracts, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably. You will oversee change control, manage contractual obligations, identify commercial risks and opportunities, and support the continued growth and success of the division.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in London.

Role Responsibilities

The duties of the Senior Quantity Surveyor role will include:

  • Leading the commercial management of term maintenance contracts from inception through to final account
  • Managing risk, value engineering and cost control activities to maximise contract performance and profitability
  • Developing and implementing procurement strategies, including the selection and management of subcontractors
  • Preparing, reviewing and negotiating subcontract agreements and contract variations
  • Monitoring project costs, forecasting, valuations, cash flow and commercial performance against budgets
  • Managing the change control process and ensuring all contractual entitlements are captured and recovered
  • Building strong working relationships with clients, operational teams and supply chain partners
  • Leading, mentoring and developing Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors within the team
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, company procedures and relevant legislation

Skills and Experience Required

We are looking for a commercially driven and collaborative Senior Quantity Surveyor with proven experience working within highways, civil engineering or infrastructure maintenance.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification
  • Significant commercial experience within highways, infrastructure or term maintenance environments
  • A strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (experience with JCT and ICE contracts would also be advantageous)
  • Experience managing subcontractors, change control and commercial reporting
  • Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A valid CSCS card
