Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: North West England
Salary: Up to £75,000 + car allowance/company vehicle + fuel card
Job Type: Permanent

We’re working with a leading infrastructure business that is continuing to grow its presence across the energy and utilities sector.

They are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, supporting the delivery of major infrastructure projects across the North West.

This is a great opportunity for a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor with a strong Civils, Utilities or Infrastructure background who enjoys working closely with operational teams and taking ownership of commercial delivery.

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will provide commercial support throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with Construction Managers, Designers, Planners, Schedulers and operational teams.

You will be responsible for protecting commercial performance while ensuring projects are delivered in line with contractual, financial and operational requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the commercial performance of projects and work packages
  • Supporting project forecasting, budgeting and cost control
  • Preparing and maintaining CVRs and commercial reports
  • Managing subcontractors, valuations, payments and final accounts
  • Managing variations, change and contractual events
  • Supporting procurement and subcontract negotiations
  • Monitoring costs, risks and commercial opportunities
  • Ensuring compliance with internal commercial processes and procedures
  • Working closely with operational and SHEQ teams
  • Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and other stakeholders
  • Identifying and escalating commercial issues where required
  • Supporting the development of commercially sustainable project pipelines

We're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who can demonstrate:

  • 5+ years' Quantity Surveying experience
  • A background within Civils, Utilities, Infrastructure or a similar environment
  • Strong experience working with NEC contracts
  • Good subcontract management and commercial management experience
  • Strong understanding of cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting
  • Experience managing change, variations and contractual matters
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience using commercial/accounting systems such as Oracle or similar
  • Good understanding of CDM and health & safety requirements
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to manage priorities, make commercial decisions and work to deadlines

Experience within energy infrastructure or EV/charging infrastructure would be advantageous, but the key requirement is strong transferable Civils/Utilities commercial experience.
