Our client, a leading facilities management organisation, is looking to appoint an experienced and commercially minded Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide expert commercial support across a range of facilities management, property maintenance, and construction activities.
About the Role
This is a key commercial position, responsible for effective cost control, commercial governance, and the successful delivery of a varied portfolio of projects and works. As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with operational teams, clients, supply chain partners, and commercial colleagues to provide robust cost advice, manage commercial risk, and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercial support across core services and additional works, helping teams develop cost models, prepare work proposals, manage budgets, and deliver value for money.
- Support the full project lifecycle, from initial planning and pricing through to delivery, final accounts, and post-contract cost control.
- Maintain strong commercial control across projects, ensuring budgets are effectively managed, financial targets are achieved, and risks are identified and mitigated.
- Monitor costs, support monthly reporting, review supply chain performance, and provide commercial insight to improve overall performance.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, operational teams, and suppliers, providing guidance on contractual requirements, supporting negotiations, and helping to resolve commercial issues, including dispute avoidance and resolution.
- Review and manage change, supporting contract processes, and ensuring compliance with company procedures, health and safety requirements, sustainability objectives, and statutory obligations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to improve commercial processes, strengthen controls, and enhance service delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
