About the Company
Our client is a well-established infrastructure and engineering contractor delivering a range of complex projects across regulated and private sector environments throughout the UK. Renowned for high standards of project delivery and a collaborative approach to working with clients, they continue to secure repeat business through long-term frameworks and strategic partnerships. Due to a sustained increase in workload, they are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a long-term freelance basis.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of multiple infrastructure projects from pre-construction through to final account. Working closely with operational teams and key stakeholders, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring commercial performance is maintained while supporting the successful delivery of projects. This opportunity would suit a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, or related sectors and a thorough understanding of NEC contracts.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
