Your New Company

A leading Tier 1 contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering complex and high-profile projects across the UK is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a critical programme of works in Inverness. Working on a range of smaller-value projects within a major public and community infrastructure environment, you will play a key role in ensuring commercial success whilst building strong relationships with a prestigious end client.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior QS seeking a long-term freelance assignment with a respected contractor offering flexibility, autonomy and a collaborative project team.

Your New Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility across multiple workstreams, providing accurate cost management and commercial control from project inception through to final account. Key duties will include:

  • Managing project costs, valuations and forecasting
  • Subcontractor procurement and account management
  • Variations, change control and compensation events
  • Producing cost reports and commercial updates
  • Supporting operational teams to maximise project performance
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Attending commercial and project progress meetings
  • Ensuring robust contractual compliance and risk management

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment
  • Strong commercial management skills across construction projects
  • Experience dealing directly with clients and key stakeholders
  • Excellent understanding of NEC and/or JCT contracts
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Available to commence a freelance assignment in the short term
