An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a successful and growing civil engineering contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering major infrastructure, highways, earthworks and development projects across the UK.

The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take commercial responsibility for one or more major civil engineering projects from contract award through to final account.
Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers and the wider commercial team, you'll oversee all aspects of commercial management, ensuring projects achieve their financial objectives while maintaining strong client and supply chain relationships.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of major civil engineering and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts and monthly cost reporting.
- Administer NEC contracts, managing compensation events, change control and contractual notices.
- Prepare applications for payment, valuations and final accounts.
- Procure subcontract packages and manage subcontractor accounts through to agreement.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
- Support project teams with commercial advice throughout delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
- Mentor and support junior commercial staff where appropriate.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the commercial function.
About You
We're looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in civil engineering who enjoys working in a collaborative, delivery-focused environment.
Essential Requirements

- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a civil engineering or infrastructure contractor.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
- Experience managing projects from procurement through to final account.
- Excellent commercial awareness and financial management skills.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
- Degree, HNC or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience delivering highways, earthworks, infrastructure or development projects.
- Working towards or holding professional membership (RICS, CIOB or equivalent).
- Previous experience mentoring junior surveyors.
