Location

This role can be based from either:

  • Birmingham Airport
  • Warrington Office

with regular attendance at Birmingham Airport projects and occasional travel across the wider aviation portfolio.

The Opportunity

Due to continued growth within our Aviation business, we are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team supporting a portfolio of high-profile projects at Birmingham Airport.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering complex infrastructure and construction works within a live operational airport environment. The position offers flexibility to be based from either our Birmingham Airport project offices or Warrington, with travel as required to project locations.

Working alongside the Commercial Manager and project delivery teams, you will take responsibility for the commercial and contractual management of projects from inception through to final account, ensuring successful financial outcomes whilst maintaining strong client and supply chain relationships.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of aviation projects across the project lifecycle
  • Preparing, submitting and negotiating applications for payment
  • Producing accurate cost/value reconciliations, forecasts and cashflows
  • Managing subcontract procurement, administration and final account settlement
  • Identifying, managing and mitigating commercial risks and opportunities
  • Preparing and negotiating compensation events, variations and contractual claims
  • Ensuring contractual compliance and protecting the company's commercial position
  • Working closely with operational teams to support successful project delivery
  • Building and maintaining strong client, consultant and supply chain relationships
  • Supporting and mentoring Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors
  • Contributing to project reporting, business forecasts and commercial reviews

About You

We are looking for a commercially astute professional who thrives in a fast-paced project environment and has a proven track record of delivering successful commercial outcomes.

Essential

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Experience operating as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure, civil engineering, rail, aviation or major construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts
  • Excellent commercial acumen and contractual awareness
  • Experience managing subcontractor procurement and commercial administration
  • Proven ability to manage project cost reporting, forecasting and final accounts
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Previous experience working within an aviation environment or on projects within live operational facilities
  • Membership of RICS or working towards chartership
  • Experience managing multiple projects or frameworks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of airport infrastructure, civil engineering and building projects
