Senior Quantity Surveyor – Renewable Energy

Location: UK
Sector: Renewable Energy

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a large-scale renewable energy project. The role will sit within the commercial function and will have a strong focus on commercial entitlement, claims, cost analysis, and project financial control. You will be responsible for helping the project team understand the financial consequences of changes, delays, and other commercial events, ensuring that supporting evidence is captured and costs are properly evaluated.

This position would suit someone who enjoys working with complex project data and has a strong background in claims, variations, EOTs, and quantum. You will work alongside commercial and project delivery colleagues, providing clear financial information and analysis to support both day-to-day decision-making and more formal commercial processes.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for an established Quantity Surveyor who is confident working in a commercially demanding project environment and can demonstrate strong experience in cost analysis and claims.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Take ownership of the commercial assessment of project events, changes, and potential entitlements.
  • Review project information and cost data to establish the financial effect of relevant events.
  • Assist with the preparation of claims, including development of supporting calculations and evidence.
  • Contribute to EOT submissions and associated commercial assessments.
  • Review expenditure and establish the relationship between project activities and resulting costs.
  • Produce detailed quantum calculations and supporting cost narratives.
  • Monitor actual expenditure against budgets, forecasts, and commercial allowances.
  • Identify emerging financial exposure and highlight areas requiring further investigation.
  • Maintain accurate records of commercial events, costs, and supporting documentation.
  • Prepare regular commercial information for project management and senior stakeholders.
  • Work with project delivery, procurement, finance, and commercial colleagues to obtain the information required for effective cost assessment.
  • Assist with negotiations and commercial discussions with contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Support the resolution of commercial issues as they arise throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute to risk reviews, forecasting, and wider commercial reporting.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
