Senior Quantity Surveyor - Urgent Requirement

We have an urgent need for an accomplished Senior Quantity Surveyor to step into a critical, contract role managing complex underground cable packages. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a strong track record of driving value and managing costs on major civil engineering projects, this is the perfect opportunity to showcase your expertise.

Key Details

  • Contract Duration: Starting ASAP and running until 04/04/2027
  • Rate: up to GBP61 per hour / GBP549 per day (Umbrella)
  • IR35 Status: Inside IR35
  • Working Pattern: 45 hours per week, Monday to Friday with an 8am start
  • Location: Hybrid working model requiring 3 days a week on-site at Assington, Suffolk

Your Core Responsibilities Will Include

  • Managing costs relating to the project to minimise expenses and enhance value for money while maintaining quality standards
  • Overseeing underground cable packages, specifically Trenching, Ducting, and HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling)
  • Taking charge of sub-contractor management and CVR management
  • Preparing procurement programmes, activity schedules, and resource schedules
  • Analysing rates, prices, variations, and compensation events, as well as preparing, submitting, and negotiating claims
  • Reviewing complex contract programmes and assisting with the preparation of delay and disruption programmes
  • Managing and mentoring a small team of less experienced commercial staff to support their professional qualifications and development

About You

  • You must have 5+ years of experience with a strong construction background
  • A BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience is essential
  • You must possess strong NEC knowledge and know how to administer an NEC contract
  • Ideally, you will be a Chartered Member of the RICS, ICES, or CIOB (or currently working towards this)
  • Previous experience with Fast Draft is highly desirable
  • You will possess excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, with the edge to make tough decisions and the energy to create momentum
