Senior Quantity Surveyor –– Competitive Salary- London & St Albans

The Role

Do you have strong NEC3 and NEC4 contract knowledge gained across rail, highways or major civil engineering projects? Are you ready to take ownership of complex commercial matters while helping clients deliver major infrastructure programmes?

We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing consultancy, based at our London office and working around 50% of the time on site in the St Albans area during the first two years.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will provide hands-on pre-contract and post-contract commercial management within a Design & Build environment. You will support a major project, work closely with the NEC Project Management Team and receive support from the Project Director when required.

This is a senior, client-facing opportunity where your judgement and experience will be valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage estimates, budgets, feasibility studies and project expenditure.
  • Administer NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, including early warnings, compensation events and change control.
  • Prepare cost variance reports, forecasts, cash-flow updates and monthly commercial reports.
  • Assess valuations, payment applications, payment certificates and final accounts.
  • Manage contractor, subcontractor and supplier accounts.
  • Lead contractor meetings and provide clear commercial advice.
  • Mentor junior Quantity Surveyors and support their development.
  • Identify the cost and programme impact of access constraints, possessions, isolations, permits and stakeholder approvals.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
