Our Role
We are looking for an experienced, proactive and commercially confident Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Birmingham/Midlands team. This role would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of projects, building trusted client relationships and providing clear, practical cost advice across a range of private and public sector schemes.
You will be trusted to lead day-to-day cost management activity, support clients through key commercial decisions and work closely with experienced colleagues across the wider practice. Key Performance Areas
- Lead cost planning, estimating and feasibility budgeting from feasibility through to project completion.
- Prepare accurate cost reports, forecasts and commercial advice that help clients make informed decisions and keep projects on track.
- Provide confident quantity surveying, cost consultancy and commercial support to clients, consultants and wider project teams.
- Identify, assess and manage risks, opportunities and value drivers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and review tender documentation, contract documents, procurement reports and associated client/contractor agreements.
- Administer contracts, assess variations, manage change control and support the resolution of contractual and commercial matters.
- Attend site visits and project meetings, providing clear commercial insight and practical support to project teams.
- Develop strong working relationships with clients, contractors and colleagues, supporting successful outcomes and long-term repeat business.
- Work in line with our agreed systems, processes and quality standards to support consistent, efficient and high-quality delivery.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry, with at least five years’ post-qualification experience.
- A relevant degree and/or professional qualification, such as MRICS, or evidence of working towards professional accreditation.
- Strong technical knowledge of cost management, procurement, contract administration and commercial reporting.
- Experience working with private and public sector clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to advise clients, influence decisions and negotiate effectively.
- The ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and stakeholders while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and commercial judgement, with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant cost management or project reporting tools.
- A full UK driving licence, with unrestricted use of a car is essential to enable site visits.
- Must have the right to work in the UK.
