Senior Quantity Surveyor
Exeter
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established construction business with an ambitious growth strategy.
This is an excellent opportunity to become an integral part of a strong commercial team, where you will have the opportunity to make a genuine impact and play a key role in the successful delivery of a range of projects.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will take commercial responsibility across the full project lifecycle, whilst also providing support and mentorship to junior members of the commercial team.
Projects will range in value from £2m–£10m, with a varied portfolio spanning sectors including education, commercial, leisure, healthcare, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Justice and mixed-use developments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide commercial and contractual advice throughout the project lifecycle
- Advise on the financial feasibility of projects at early stages
- Lead and manage main contract and subcontract administration
- Negotiate with the subcontractor supply chain to achieve best value
- Monitor and measure actual expenditure against budget through CVR and cost reporting
- Prepare and present accurate monthly cost reports
- Value works undertaken by subcontractors and certify interim and final payments
- Prepare and manage subcontractor final accounts
- Maintain accurate package summary sheets and commercial forecasts
- Identify, assess and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
- Manage risk and opportunity throughout the project lifecycle
- Support the wider project team with commercial and contractual expertise
- Mentor and support junior members of the commercial team

About You:
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
- Proven experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Senior Commercial position within the construction industry
- Strong experience managing the commercial function across the full project lifecycle
- Experience across sectors such as education, commercial, leisure, healthcare, MoD, MoJ or mixed-use
- Strong knowledge of contract administration, procurement, valuation, change management and risk management
- Experience managing the commercial delivery of high-value construction projects
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and relevant commercial/project management systems
- Full UK driving licence
