Your new company

You will be joining a multi-accredited and well-established contractor operating in the highways industry. This high-profile contractor has a strong reputation for delivering projects valued between £1m-£9m for National Highways and multiple local authorities and offers excellent opportunities for career progression and professional development. Their commitment to delivering an exceptional standard of work has positioned them as a leader within the industry and, due to a major three-year-long contract award on Sizewell C, they are actively seeking a site-based Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team.

This is a full-time permanent position based on-site at Sizewell C with hybrid working.

Your new role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of projects from pre-construction through to final account.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing project costs, budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting
  • Administering NEC form of contract
  • Preparing and submitting applications for payment and managing cash flow
  • Identifying, pricing, and negotiating compensation events, variations, and change control
  • Procuring subcontractors and managing subcontract accounts
  • Preparing interim valuations and agreeing final accounts
  • Monitoring project performance and identifying opportunities to improve commercial outcomes
  • Providing commercial support and guidance to project delivery teams
  • Managing project risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders
  • Supporting and mentoring junior commercial team members where appropriate
  • Contributing to the successful delivery of schemes.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be successful, you must bring:

  • Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying (or similar qualification) or experience equivalent
  • Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor within heavy civils, working with NEC form of contract (ideally Options A, B and/or E)
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  • Experience managing subcontractors, commercial risk, and project cash flow
  • Full UK driving licence.
