Senior Quantity Surveyor – Data Centres
Bristol, UK (Site Based)
Your new company
We are working with an established specialist contractor delivering complex projects across the data centre, defence and energy sectors. With more than four decades of industry experience, the business has built its reputation around technically demanding projects where there is no standard solution, combining construction, engineering and specialist project expertise from design through to client occupancy. The business is continuing to grow within the UK’s rapidly expanding data centre market and is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a £15m data centre project in Bristol. This is an opportunity to join a contractor where the commercial function has a genuine influence on project delivery, working closely with project teams, supply chain partners and clients to drive performance and protect margins.
Your new role
You will take the commercial lead on the second phase of a major data centre refurbishment, following the successful completion of an £8m first phase.
The next stage is a £15m design-and-build project, expanding the existing facility by an additional 2.4MW of IT capacity. The project includes significant new M&E infrastructure, including chillers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems and CRAH units.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will have significant ownership of the project's commercial performance, working alongside project leadership and site management to maximise profitability, cash generation and contractual recovery.
This is not a role focused purely on reporting numbers. You'll be expected to shape commercial strategy, influence procurement, manage risk and change, and work directly with the delivery team to achieve project objectives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
