The Role
Our client, a leading Tier 1 contractor, is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, supporting the successful delivery of complex engineering projects within the aviation sector.
Working alongside the Commercial Manager, Project Directors and multidisciplinary project teams, you will take ownership of the commercial management of major projects from pre-contract through to final account. You'll play a pivotal role in protecting the commercial interests of the business, managing contractual obligations, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably and in accordance with client requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile aviation infrastructure projects within a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial delivery of complex engineering and infrastructure projects, ensuring effective cost control, contract administration and commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Administer contracts with both clients and subcontractors, ensuring commercial risks are identified, managed and mitigated.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, cost forecasts, cash flow forecasts, payment applications and financial reporting.
- Manage the commercial aspects of change, including the preparation, assessment and negotiation of compensation events, variations and associated time and cost impacts.
- Procure, manage and administer subcontract packages, including valuations, payments, change management and final accounts.
- Work closely with project teams to monitor project costs, identify commercial risks and opportunities, and implement strategies to maximise project performance and profitability.
- Support the preparation of monthly commercial reports, cost value reconciliations and project forecasts.
- Develop strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
- Provide commercial guidance and support to Assistant Quantity Surveyors and junior members of the commercial team, contributing to their development and mentoring.
- Ensure commercial activities align with project programmes and support the successful achievement of key project milestones.

About You
You'll be an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong commercial background delivering major engineering or infrastructure projects within complex, regulated environments.
You will have:
- Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on major airport, aviation or complex infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience managing the commercial aspects of projects with annual revenues exceeding £10 million.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC3, NEC4 and MF/1 contracts.
- Excellent understanding of cost management, forecasting, valuations, cash flow and financial reporting.
- Demonstrable experience managing contractual change, including compensation events, variations and commercial negotiations.
- Experience administering subcontract packages from procurement through to final account.
- A sound understanding of project planning, programme management and schedule impacts.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and mitigate project risks while maximising commercial opportunities.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced project environment.
- Membership of RICS, CIOB or another relevant professional institution is desirable.
