Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor
Fully Remote | Outside IR35 | Long-Term Contract
About the Company
Our client is a leading UK civil engineering contractor delivering complex infrastructure and major project works across a variety of sectors. With a strong pipeline of secured work and a reputation for successful project delivery, they are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide commercial support across a busy portfolio of schemes. This opportunity is ideally suited to a commercially focused professional who thrives in a remote working environment and has extensive NEC contract experience.
The Role
Due to continued workload and a significant programme of change across multiple projects, our client is looking to appoint a Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor to support their commercial team on a long-term basis.
The successful candidate will take ownership of key commercial activities, with a particular focus on change management, compensation events, commercial reporting, subcontract management and NEC contract administration. This role is fully remote, offering excellent flexibility whilst remaining heavily involved in commercial decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of civil engineering projects
- Manage and administer NEC contracts
- Assess, price and negotiate compensation events
- Drive effective change management processes across multiple projects
- Prepare and present cost reports, forecasts and commercial updates
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
- Oversee subcontract procurement and account management
- Support project teams on contractual and commercial matters
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with contractual requirements
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders and project delivery teams

Experience & Requirements
- Proven experience operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or infrastructure sectors
- Extensive knowledge of NEC forms of contract
- Strong background in change management and compensation events
- Experience managing subcontract packages from procurement through to final account
- Excellent commercial reporting and forecasting capabilities
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred)
