Location: Leeds

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00

Our client is a leading Tier One contractor delivering multi-disciplinary building and civil engineering projects across the UK. With a strong reputation for quality, safety, and successful project delivery, they continue to grow their team and project portfolio.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team, taking responsibility for the successful commercial management of projects and playing a key role in the delivery of high-quality infrastructure works.

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Position Overview

  • Take commercial ownership of assigned civil engineering projects, ensuring financial performance, contractual compliance, and successful delivery.
  • Manage project budgets, cost control, forecasting, and commercial reporting, providing accurate financial insight to the wider project team.
  • Prepare and review CVRs, valuations, applications, cash flow forecasts, and other key commercial reports.
  • Manage contractual processes including variations, compensation events, change control, payments, and final accounts.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities, implementing effective mitigation strategies to protect and maximize project performance.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
  • Lead procurement activities, including the negotiation and management of subcontractor and supplier agreements.
  • Provide commercial guidance and support to Quantity Surveyors and junior team members where required.
  • Work closely with the Commercial Manager and project teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably.

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Position Requirements

  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within a contracting environment.
  • Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification (BSc or equivalent).
  • Strong experience managing the commercial delivery of civil engineering, infrastructure, or construction projects.
  • Excellent understanding of NEC forms of contract and contract administration.
  • Proven experience managing project costs, forecasting, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
  • Strong negotiation skills with experience managing subcontractor and supplier relationships.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build effective relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and deliver against project deadlines.
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience within the rail or wider infrastructure sector would be advantageous.
