About the Role

We’re recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor for an established national property services contractor, supporting its North West operation.

This high-profile position gives you direct exposure to senior business leaders and the opportunity to influence contract performance, profitability and the development of junior commercial colleagues.

If branch leadership is your ambition, progression into a Branch Manager role is an expected career route within 18 months to two years, subject to performance and business opportunities.

The Opportunity

You’ll take commercial ownership of multiple live contracts, working closely with clients, operational teams and senior management from contract commencement through to final account.

Alongside delivering strong commercial results, mentoring junior team members will be a central part of your role. You’ll help Quantity Surveyors, Assistants, Graduates and Trainees build their technical skills, commercial judgement and confidence.

Your Responsibilities

  • Managing contract budgets, cost control, commercial risk and profitability.
  • Leading cost value reconciliations (CVRs), work in progress, forecasting and cash flow reporting.
  • Overseeing subcontractor procurement, valuations, payment applications, variations and final accounts.
  • Leading client negotiations and protecting the business’s contractual position.
  • Coaching junior colleagues through practical support and regular development conversations.
  • Working with operational teams and business leaders to improve contract performance.

What You’ll Bring

You’ll have at least five years’ Quantity Surveying experience, with a track record of managing multiple contracts or high-volume workstreams.

Experience in social housing, planned maintenance, refurbishment, retrofit, decarbonisation or property services would transfer particularly well.

We’re looking for:

  • Strong CVR, forecasting, cost control and financial reporting skills.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Confidence negotiating with clients and resolving commercial issues.
  • Experience mentoring, supervising or managing junior commercial colleagues.
  • Strong Excel, analytical and communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach and a full UK driving licence.

A relevant degree and knowledge of JCT, NEC or SBCC contracts would be advantageous. RICS accreditation is welcomed but isn’t essential.
