Your new role

Senior Quantity Surveyor required on a freelance basis to support a busy residential developer on a temporary basis across housing projects in the East Midlands.

This is a hands-on commercial role, taking responsibility for the full commercial management of live housing developments, from cost control and budget management through to subcontractor procurement, valuations, variations, and final accounts.

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the commercial performance of housing developments
  • Preparing and monitoring site budgets
  • Reporting on build costs, savings, and overspends
  • Procuring and managing subcontractors
  • Handling payments, variations, day works, and final accounts
  • Supporting site teams with commercial advice and cost control
  • Producing monthly valuations and work-in-progress reporting
  • Assisting with contract discussions and commercial resolution of defects
  • Ensuring commercial processes and documentation are followed consistently

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong experience within housebuilding or residential development
  • A solid understanding of build costs, budgets, and subcontractor management
  • Good knowledge of Building Regulations, NHBC, and Health & Safety requirements
  • Experience with valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Good IT skills, with COINS experience
