As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in providing commercial support and management across project delivery, ensuring all aspects of contract administration are undertaken accurately, effectively and in a timely manner.
Working within a developing commercial structure, you will contribute to the successful delivery of major energy projects while supporting commercial governance, stakeholder engagement and project performance.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing commercial leadership across your allocated projects, ensuring robust commercial management and control throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing subcontract procurement activities from tender through to award.
- Administration and management of subcontractor contracts.
- Negotiation and resolution of final accounts.
- Supporting the delivery of project commercial objectives and performance targets.
- Managing and mentoring junior commercial team members where required.
- Working closely with project stakeholders, including client-side commercial teams.
- Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of commercial data, reporting and forecasting.
- Identifying and escalating commercial risks, opportunities and emerging issues to project leadership.
- Maintaining compliance with approved processes, procedures, project execution plans and collaborative management plans.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the Quantity Surveying and wider commercial function.
- Contributing to the ongoing development of the project's commercial structure and best practices.

Essential Requirements
- Degree qualified (or equivalent experience considered).
- Significant experience in a Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management role within major projects.
- Strong understanding of subcontract procurement and contract administration.
- Experience managing commercial aspects of complex infrastructure, energy or construction projects.
- Experience using Contract Management Systems such as CEMAR, FastDraft, or similar platforms.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to identify commercial risks and implement effective solutions.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience supervising or managing members of a project commercial team.
- Working knowledge and practical experience of NEC4 contracts.
- Experience leading small commercial teams while reporting into senior commercial leadership for strategic guidance.
- Experience within major infrastructure, utilities, energy or construction environments.

About The Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
