Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Hampton / Southern Region (Hybrid: 3 days on-site/office)

Salary: £65000 - £75000 + Car Allowance

Primary Focus

Taking full end-to-end commercial ownership and financial management for major capital projects within the infrastructure sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial & Cost Management:
    • Oversee complete quantity surveying functions, including budget compilation, cost-to-complete forecasting, and cost/value reconciliations (CVRs).
  • Contract Administration:
    • Manage main contract obligations, ensuring early warnings, compensation events, and formal contractual correspondence are submitted accurately and within set timeframes.
  • Supply Chain & Subcontracts:
    • Draft, issue, and manage subcontract agreements. Evaluate subcontractor performance, monitor progress, and manage payment applications and variations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Partner closely with engineering, site operations, client representatives, and supply chain partners to control expenditures and drive value engineering.
  • Financial Reporting:
    • Prepare regular financial updates, cash flow projections, and commercial risk reports for leadership.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Mentor, guide, and support the professional growth of junior commercial staff.
  • Governance & Standards:
    • Maintain high professional standards, confidentiality, and active participation in continuous professional development (CPD).

Candidate Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Relevant degree qualification or equivalent professional background.
  • Proven track record managing major packages or projects valued in excess of £5M.
  • Extensive experience within utilities, civil engineering, or MEICA frameworks.
  • Solid working knowledge of NEC3 or IChemE contract suites.

  • Experience supervising and developing line reports.
  • MRICS/RICS chartership or working towards professional accreditation.
