We offer highways maintenance services and manufacture innovative surfacing products.
Purpose of the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team, based at our Coleshill depot, B46 3HN. You will provide commercial support across the Area 9 Highways Maintenance and Response Contract, working closely with the wider Commercial and Operational teams to ensure projects are managed effectively and commercially. You will provide advice and guidance to the Commercial team, including Quantity Surveyors, Assistant Quantity Surveyors, and Trainee Quantity Surveyors, while supporting senior management with accurate and timely commercial reporting.

You will also support the pricing of new works, manage subcontract packages from procurement through to final account, and help ensure that all commercial activities are delivered in line with company governance, policies, and procedures.
Main Responsibilities

- Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of projects and subcontract packages, including procurement, payment mechanisms, change management, final accounts, and the resolution of contractual issues.
- Identifying, recording, notifying, and negotiating changes in accordance with the contract and providing advice on contractual matters, including NEC, FIDIC, and JCT forms of contract.
- Supporting cost planning and pre-contract activities, including reviewing tenders, developing cost plans, analyzing rates, and understanding the cost implications of labor, plant, materials, and subcontractors.

- Working closely with Project Managers, operational teams, client stakeholders, designers, subcontractors, and internal departments to ensure commercial requirements are met.
- Supporting framework quotations and pricing, ensuring these are issued accurately, on time, and in line with contract conditions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
