Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

Would you like to work for a company with over 40 years of experience within Civil Engineering? Do you have a strong Quantity Surveying background, with the ability to effectively lead a successful team? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

Here at CML, as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the Commercial team, you can expect to be working on projects ranging from £2k to £6m, with an average of £6k.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, train and provide support to a dedicated Commercial Team.
  • Provide advice, support and information to the Commercial Team / Project Staff on commercial and contractual matters, including reviewing and drafting of correspondence.
  • Manage and produce formal reports for Senior Management.
  • Maintain and develop client relationships ensuring the timely submissions of applications for payments.
  • Operate the change process on an NEC4 contract.
  • Identify and manage opportunities and risk.
  • Settle final Accounts with Clients and sub-contractors in line with agreed terms and conditions.
  • Assist with tenders, both in terms of formulating and review.
  • Comply with and promote the company safety policy and be able to evidence good behaviours that support our Core Values.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a contracting environment.
  • Experience within the Civil Engineering/ Rail sector.
  • HND/ HNC Level 4/ Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying.
  • RCIS/ CES membership.

Skills, Competencies, and Personal Qualities

  • Ability to pass on knowledge, guide and support team members with their L&D.
  • Strong IT Skill especially with Microsoft packages.
  • Strong Numeracy skills.
  • Ability to work methodically, using own initiative and unsupervised.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A calm yet inquisitive nature, who is comfortable with questioning and challenging issues when needed.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to engage with stakeholders and other team members on all levels.
  • Prioritises well and works effectively to deadlines.
  • Is customer focused and can reach resolutions with issues.
