Job Description
Senior Quantity Surveyor – Southern Region East Sussex
Due to continued growth and success, Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This role will initially be based on a major critical infrastructure project near East Sussex, involving highways and bridge construction. The project is scheduled to commence in early 2026 and will run for approximately 18 months, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-profile civil engineering scheme.
The Role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the commercial management of the project, ensuring financial performance, contractual compliance, and effective delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support and mentorship to junior team members
- Maximise profitability across contracts
- Monitor and control costs against budgets
- Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and forecasts
- Manage subcontract procurement, including documentation
- Assess and certify interim and final subcontractor payments
- Prepare, negotiate, and agree contract variations
- Assist with dispute resolution (e.g. adjudications and arbitrations)
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards

About You
Our client is looking for a commercially astute and motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic construction environment.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
- Strong background in civil engineering projects
- Experience working with NEC forms of contract
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Strong numeracy and IT capability
- Proactive, innovative, and solutions-focused mindset
- Full UK driving license and willingness to travel
