Senior Quantity Surveyor

Manchester

Up to £55k DOE

I’m working with a small, independent consultancy with a genuinely friendly and close knit team, a varied project portfolio and a group of people who actually enjoy working together. They’re looking for a Senior QS who can work independently, build strong relationships with clients and take ownership of their projects, while still being someone who gets involved with the wider team.

Personality is really important here. The team don't take themselves too seriously, there's plenty of humour in the office and, naturally, the occasional after-work drink, bite to eat and office debate. Their projects cover a broad range of sectors including education, heritage, housing, leisure and commercial and data centres.

They’re ideally looking for someone who is MRICS chartered, with a good level of consultancy experience. They would also consider someone who is ready to take the step up to Senior level, dependent experience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
