GVR Solutions are working with a well-established and growing specialist drylining and interior contractor, based in Essex delivering high-quality projects across the commercial, residential, education, healthcare and high-end interiors sectors.

Due to continued growth and a strong forward order book, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute QS who understands the specialist subcontracting environment and is looking for a long-term position with a progressive and reputable contractor.

Key Responsibilities Of The Senior Quantity Surveyor Will Include

  • Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of multiple projects.
  • Preparing, submitting and agreeing interim valuations and payment applications.
  • Managing variations, change control and associated commercial negotiations.
  • Reviewing and agreeing subcontractor and supplier accounts.
  • Preparing cost reports, forecasts and cash-flow projections.
  • Monitoring project costs against budgets and identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Managing applications, payments and final accounts.
  • Negotiating and agreeing variations and claims with clients and main contractors.
  • Reviewing contracts, specifications and project documentation.
  • Supporting project teams with commercial and contractual advice.
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting regularly to senior management.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, main contractors, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Assisting with the development of junior members of the commercial team.

The Senior Quantity Must Have/be

  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor within the specialist subcontracting sector.
  • Strong experience in drylining, ceilings, partitions, suspended ceilings or interior fit-out.
  • A solid understanding of construction contracts, commercial management and subcontractor accounts.
  • Experience managing projects from procurement through to final account.
  • Strong knowledge of valuations, variations, applications, CVRs and forecasting.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • A commercially driven and proactive approach.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and good numerical and analytical skills.
  • Relevant construction/commercial qualifications are desirable although strong industry experience will also be considered.
