About Ward Williams:

Ward Williams is growing and doing things differently.

Over the past 10 years, we’ve doubled in size and built a reputation we’re proud of. We are one of the first consultancies of our kind globally to achieve B Corp status and have been recognised with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development. That reflects not just what we do, but how we work.

We work on projects that matter, delivering thoughtful, high-quality solutions across the built environment, while building long-term relationships with the people we work alongside.

But what really sets us apart is our approach to people.

At Ward Williams, we don’t believe in unnecessary hierarchy, being boxed into one type of project, or feeling like just another name in a large team. Instead, we focus on creating an environment where people have the space to take ownership, build strong client relationships, and develop their careers in a way that genuinely works for them.

You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with Partners, contribute to a wide range of projects, and build your profile within a business that values quality, trust, and collaboration over volume and process.

We’re a people-first consultancy at heart, which means giving you the support, flexibility, and autonomy to do your best work, while being part of a team that is invested in your development and success.

Who are we looking for:

We’re looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor who is comfortable taking ownership of projects and delivering high-quality cost management and commercial advice from start to finish.

  • You’ll be leading across multiple schemes, managing budgets, cost plans, procurement, and contracts, while building strong client relationships and providing confident, strategic input throughout.

  • You’ll also play a key role within the team, supporting and mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to the overall success of projects from inception through to completion.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Experience within a PQS or consultancy environment is beneficial, ideally at Senior level, alongside strong commercial awareness and a solid understanding of contracts and project delivery. MRICS qualification, or working towards it, is important.

Just as important is how you work. You’ll be proactive, collaborative, and confident in your approach, someone who enjoys building relationships, takes pride in what they deliver, and is comfortable being trusted to get on with it.

What is it like to work in this office?

Our Winchester office offers something a bit different.

  • You’ll be joining a well-established team with a strong, long-standing client base and a consistent pipeline of repeat work. It’s an environment where relationships matter, projects are delivered properly, and quality is prioritised over volume.

  • The team is close-knit and collaborative, with people who know each other well, support each other, and genuinely enjoy working together. There’s a balance of experience across the team, so you’ll have the opportunity to learn from others while also having the space to take ownership of your own projects.

  • You won’t feel hidden here. You’ll work closely with Partners, be involved in conversations that shape projects and clients, and have real visibility within the business.

Winchester itself offers a great balance. It’s well-connected, easy to get to, and has the feel of a city without the pace and pressure of London, making it a great place to build your career while maintaining a strong quality of life.

Your profile:

  • You’re already operating at Senior level, confident in your ability to run projects and build strong relationships with clients. You know your craft, and you take pride in delivering good work, not just getting things done.

  • You’re probably at a stage where you’re looking for more ownership and a clearer path forward. You want to be trusted to lead projects, have a say in how things are done, and feel more involved in the wider business, not just working through layers of process.

  • You value quality over volume. You’d rather work on projects where relationships matter and standards are high, rather than being pushed through high turnover work with little connection to the outcome.
