Senior Quantity Surveyor | Taylor Woodrow | Rockbeare, Exeter
JML JobMatcha is recruiting an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a Taylor Woodrow project team based in Rockbeare, Devon.
This is a great opportunity for a commercially minded QS to take ownership of a project's full commercial function, working closely with the delivery team and reporting to the Project Manager or Commercial Manager.
📍 Location: Rockbeare Hill, Exeter, Devon, EX5 2HB
💷 Rate: £300-£500 per day
📅 Start date: 28th September 2026
⏳ Duration: 6 months+
About the role
Responsible for protecting the commercial position on a project or section of works, using in depth understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance and legal processes. The role also carries responsibility for managing and developing junior members of the commercial team, and for maintaining strong client relationships to support smooth commercial progression of the contract.

Key responsibilities
- Support tendering and pre-contract activity, and lead on project start up procedures
- Manage subcontract procurement in line with company policy, from ITT through to appointment
- Prepare and submit valuations, invoices and applications for payment, maximising cash flow
- Manage settlement of final accounts, including variations, claims and disputes
- Identify, manage and reduce unnecessary costs, and monitor labour, plant and material efficiency
- Produce accurate and timely CVR reports and forecasts
- Identify and manage project risks and opportunities, keeping registers up to date
- Ensure all contractual notices, subcontract instructions and change control are handled accurately and on time
- Carry out re-measurement, quantification of works and value engineering activity
- Support efficient project close out, ensuring records are properly maintained

What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor
- Strong working knowledge of contract law, procurement and subcontract administration
- Confident managing commercial reporting, cost control and risk registers
- Experience developing and supporting junior commercial team members
- Excellent client-facing communication skills
