Senior Quantum Error Correction Scientist / Lead
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of quantum error correction (QEC) strategies for a next-generation quantum computing platform.
- Design, evaluate, and optimize quantum error-correcting codes, logical qubit architectures, and decoding algorithms for scalable fault-tolerant quantum computing.
- Define physical qubit performance requirements needed to achieve fault-tolerant operation and inform future hardware architecture and qubit topology.
- Conduct research to improve the performance, scalability, and efficiency of fault-tolerant quantum computing systems while remaining at the forefront of advances in quantum error correction.
- Develop simulations incorporating realistic noise models, quantum error correction protocols, and fault-tolerant computational techniques.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation including architecture specifications, design documents, and validation plans.
- Work closely with cross-functional engineering, hardware, software, and theory teams to ensure seamless integration of fault-tolerant architectures.
- Collaborate with algorithm and theory researchers to develop new quantum error correction techniques and implement algorithms on logical qubits.
- Present technical results internally and externally through publications, conference presentations, and technical seminars.

- Deep understanding of fault-tolerant quantum computing, including areas such as:
- Quantum error correction
- Decoding algorithms
- Logical gate implementations
- Non-Clifford gate techniques
- Lattice surgery
- Code switching
- Logical qubit architectures
- 5+ years of research or industry experience in quantum error correction or fault-tolerant quantum computing.
- Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams including hardware, software, algorithms, and experimental physics.
- Hands-on experience implementing and evaluating quantum error correction techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to design scalable fault-tolerant quantum systems.
- Proficiency in Python or similar scientific programming languages.
- PhD (or equivalent research experience) in Quantum Computing, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Strong publication record, preprints, open-source contributions, or other evidence of impactful research.
