Job Summary
The RadHaz C2 Engineer will carry out both theoretical and practical RadHaz assessments on a range of EMF emitting equipment used throughout the MOD ranging from Maritime Communication Systems, Radar & other complex EMF emitters and produce concise and informative technical reports on those assessments to the MOD customer.
Represent DEMA-RadHaz at MOD Programme, Project and Tasking meetings, providing accurate SME advice regarding EMF safety, EMF safety policy and EMF safety law to those meetings.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job Description
The RadHaz C2 Lead Engineer will carry out both theoretical and practical RadHaz assessments on a range of EMF emitting equipment ranging from Battlefield Communication Systems, Radar & other complex EMF emitters and produce concise and informative technical reports on those assessments to the MOD customer. This includes making the logistic arrangements for those assessments. The incumbent must be willing to drive (using MOD transport – training will be provided if necessary) to remote assessment sites in both UK and Worldwide and be willing to work in austere challenging conditions (PPE will be provided) for the duration of the assessment
Represent DEMA-RadHaz at MOD Programme, Project and Tasking meetings, providing accurate SME advice regarding EMF safety, EMF safety policy and EMF safety law to those meetings.
Represent DEMA-RadHaz at MOD’s tri-service EMF safety committee meetings.
Support DEMA-RadHaz Policy & DEMA-RadHaz Blandford Team to carry out exercises and assessment support when requested.

Mandatory Licenses
- Full Valid UK Driving Licence (Cat B) - Due to requirement for regular travel
Mandatory Qualifications
- Minimum ONC in an Electrical/Electronics skill and ideally HNC Level in Electronics
Desirable
Memberships
- Desirable but not Essential, membership of an Engineering Institution such as IET or IEEE
Licences
- Full Valid UK Driving Licence (Cat B) - Due to requirement for regular travel.
- Cat C Licence is desirable.
Qualifications
- Minimum ONC Level 3 in an Electrical/Electronics skill and ideally HNC/Degree Level 5/6 in Electronics

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and working from home as part of a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement. All office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to site capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD workplace, will also count towards this level of office attendance. External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
