Management Responsibilities

• To have the confidence to raise concerns as and when they arise.
• To train Healthcare Assistance in Devices Surgical Centre as required.

What you'll be doing

Clinical & Technical Responsibilities

CLINICAL

• Play an active role in interventional procedures under the direction of clinical staff
• Carry out routine patient care duties and other care practices as directed by the Clinical team.
• Chaperone during clinics, including involvement in intimate examinations. Display care, patience, and empathy to all patients.
• Maintain high standards of infection control within the department and during clinical care.
• Provide a patient-focused service within the department, expanding the role appropriately under supervision and guidance of clinical staff.
• Have the ability to prioritize workload and know when to seek advice from a qualified member of staff.
• Attending the relevant training required in order to safely perform all USGIs within the department and implementing this knowledge during practice.
• Contribute to accurate written and computerized documentation relevant to patient procedures, always ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
• Attention to detail is vital in this role, due to the knowledge required for preparing documentation prior to injection appointments.
• Having a full understanding of contraindications for the different USGIs.
• Stay calm in medical emergencies and have the ability to assess a deteriorating patient.

COMMUNICATION

• Ensure excellent two-way communication with patients, families, and colleagues at all times. Display the ability to overcome any communication barriers.
• To effectively communicate with all clinical staff concerning the care of the patient.
• To assess patient and carers and provide advice meeting their needs, whilst knowing your own knowledge limitations and seeking support when needed.

Administration

• Ensuring that the department is prepared for the next working day or that this task has been delegated appropriately.
• Providing management of all USGI documentation, prior to the patient’s arrival and ensuring paperwork is scanned in Maxims documents and disposed of appropriately, after that procedure.
• Display flexibility with working patterns, to best support our clinical requirements.

What we'll look for in you

Satisfactory Occupational Health clearance for the role specified.

Good attendance record.

Education/Qualification

• Have satisfactory DBS clearance
• To be BLS trained
• To have undertaken some form of advanced training in healthcare

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Previous Experience

• To have a minimum of 2 years' experience, working within a healthcare environment.
• To have a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a patient/people-facing role, including skills in conflict resolution, working under pressure, and remaining calm and supportive with patients, prioritizing their care and wellbeing.

Skills And Knowledge

• To have the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
• Have a good understanding of Infection Control and Health and Safety legislation
• Ability to plan and prioritize own workload when under pressure
• Ability to work flexibly within a changing environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Computer literate
• The ability to chaperone in a clinical setting and act as the Consultant’s assistant and the patients' advocate.
• The ability to stay calm when faced with a medical emergency.
