Join our bustling Bromley office, situated in one of London’s greenest boroughs. Here you’ll find plentiful and easy commuting routes, with central London just 15 minutes away by train.
Role Description:
A Senior Rates eTrading Development Lead is required to modernize and expand our front office eTrading platforms that support Rates products across multiple lines of businesses globally. This is a hands-on technical leadership role that will bring expertise in software engineering best practices, architecting and building low latency D2C and D2D algos, market data connectivity, execution workflows, internalization, and pricing. This role will help lead the technical architecture and delivery of strategic initiatives that span across business enablement/growth, platform modernization, stability, performance, and innovation. The candidate will have deep experience in front-office eTrading systems and be a key partner to tech management, software engineers, quantitative analysts, and traders.
Responsibilities:
- Build high-performance, low latency components for fixed income eTrading and pricing workflows.
- Developing frameworks and core services to enable real-time order execution, auto-quoting, algo engines, pricing services, collaborating with quant and algo teams.
- Champion best development practices including agile iterative development, pairing, code reviews, CI/CD, automated testing, loosely coupled interface design, disciplines and principles for scalability and re-use.
- Refactor and modernize existing code and improving performance, design, and observability metrics of existing and new components.
- Working with technology partners and business groups in the region and globally.
- Work with the management, horizontal teams, and stakeholders to help define and deliver the strategic roadmap.
- Work with engineers, production support staff, and traders.

What we are looking for:
- Clear articulate communication skills - Ability to communicate ideas, design, and architecture principles. Thrives in a collaborative environment and is able to break problems down analytically to work through solutions.
- Hands on Java development and technical leadership experience is a must-have with demonstrated ability to design and implement the architecture, development, and deployment.
- Engineering, Science, Math, or similar degree.
- Experience as a lead software engineer building electronic trading solutions.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented setting.
- Organized and able to prioritize effectively across workstreams.
- Highly experienced in leveraging platforms for development including Linux, Ansible Tower, Jenkins, Maven, Git/Bitbucket, Artifactory, automation scripting.
- High proficiency in data architecture, schemas, and data workflows.
- Good experience in software engineering real-time trading system design principles:
- message-driven, event based architecture, TCP, UDP, Multicast
- low latency performance and scaling
- multithreading
- service oriented interface driven architecture
- object oriented design
Skills that will help:
- Experience working in Fixed Income eTrading technology domain specializing in the D2C & D2D electronic execution, algo, pricing systems is a plus.
- Experience integrating with APIs and workflows from venues such as CME, Bloomberg, Tradeweb.
- Experience with FIX, FpML protocols.
- Experience in algo system design and controls, including kill switches, limits, simulating scenarios, and metrics reporting.
- Knowledge of fixed income products such as government bonds, interest rate swaps, futures is a plus but not required if you've worked on other traded products/systems like Equities or FX.
- Experience with real-time pricing systems and analytic library integration used to compute bond or swap prices, yields, dv01, and other market relevant analytics.
- Experience in trading system re-design migration projects is a big plus.
