About Qkine
Qkine is a Cambridge-based biotechnology company specialising in the development and manufacture of high-quality, recombinant, animal-free growth factors and cytokines for research, bioprocessing, and advanced cell therapy applications. By combining proprietary production and protein-engineering technologies, we address fundamental biological and scale-up challenges across the stem cell, organoid, regenerative medicine, and cultured meat sectors. Our approach has enabled us to build a loyal customer base that includes leading biotechnology companies and world-class academic institutions.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior R&D Technician to support the work of our R&D team. We also welcome applications from candidates with less hands-on laboratory experience who meet the essential competencies and qualifications and demonstrate strong motivation and the ability to learn quickly. Such candidates may be considered for appointment at the Technician level.
The role will involve a range of laboratory support activities, including the preparation of buffers, media and gels; maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment; receiving deliveries and monitoring consumable stock levels; and managing laboratory waste. Previous experience working with proteins would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided in protein expression and purification.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
