Senior React Developer – SC Cleared

Whitehall Resources are currently looking for a Senior React Developer – SC Cleared.

This role will be Inside of IR35, so you will be required to use an Umbrella company.

Must not have been outside of the UK for more than 6 months in the last 5 years.

Key Requirements:

  • We are seeking an experienced SC Cleared React Developer with strong full-stack capabilities to support the delivery of high-quality, user-centric digital services within a secure public sector environment.
  • This role requires a developer who combines strong frontend expertise in React and JavaScript with working knowledge of backend technologies such as Node.js, and the ability to build scalable, accessible, and performant applications aligned with government standards.
  • The successful candidate will operate in an Agile delivery environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver intuitive and secure digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain responsive web applications using React.js and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
  • Build reusable components and front-end libraries for scalability and efficiency.
  • Ensure applications meet accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG guidelines) and are usable across a wide range of devices and browsers.
  • Implement pixel-perfect UI aligned with design specifications and UI/UX best practices.
  • Contribute to backend development using Node.js or similar technologies.
  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate front-end applications with backend services.
  • Support end-to-end feature development from UI through to data layer.
  • Apply strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and modern styling frameworks.
  • Ensure applications are user-centric, intuitive, and aligned with public sector digital standards.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to create seamless user experiences.
  • Integrate front-end components with RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Handle asynchronous data flows, state management, and error handling effectively.
  • Ensure secure and efficient data exchange between systems.
  • Work within Agile (Scrum/Kanban) delivery teams, contributing to sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate closely with:
    • Product Owners
    • Designers
    • Backend Developers
    • DevOps Engineers
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes.
  • Ensure development aligns with secure coding practices required in a public sector environment.
  • Adhere to government security policies and standards, particularly for SC-cleared environments.
  • Support implementation of authentication, authorization, and data protection measures.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
  • Participate in unit testing, integration testing, and code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues across the application stack.
