About the role

We’re looking for a Senior React Native Engineer to help build and evolve Tesco’s Digital Design System (DDS) implementation for React Native. The DDS Engineering team maintains the shared user interface foundations behind Tesco's digital ecosystem, supporting experiences used by millions of customers and colleagues every day.

This is a senior platform engineering role focused on reusable UI foundations: component APIs, accessibility, quality, documentation, release discipline, and developer experience for teams across Tesco’s digital estate. Prior design system experience is valuable, but not required; we’re most interested in strong platform engineers who enjoy building shared foundations used by many teams. You’ll work closely with design, accessibility, product engineering, and DDS peers to keep Tesco experiences consistent, scalable, and easy to build.

You will be responsible for

  • Create reusable components, improve developer tooling and documentation, support consuming teams, and help shape modern design-to-development workflows; using Figma, MCP integrations, agentic cloud workflows and AI-assisted engineering tools.
  • This is not an “AI for AI’s sake” role: the goal is practical engineering impact, better component reuse, fewer inconsistencies, stronger accessibility, faster onboarding, and safer migrations.

You will need

  • Build, maintain, and evolve Tesco DDS platform components for React Native, with clear APIs, strong test coverage, accessibility support, and release discipline.
  • Translate DDS design intent, tokens, component states, and interaction guidance into production-ready React Native implementation.
  • Improve developer experience for consuming teams through documentation, examples, onboarding, contribution guidance, support, and migration tooling.
  • Collaborate with design, accessibility, product engineering, and platform peers to keep DDS implementation aligned across iOS, Android, React Native, and Web.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly where they improve quality, speed, consistency, or developer self-service.
  • Help make DDS documentation and component metadata more useful to humans and AI agents through MCP-ready context, examples, and clear constraints.
  • Lead through senior engineering craft: architectural judgment, code review, mentoring, pragmatic delivery, technical clarity, and high-quality communication.
  • Relocation Help - professional service to secure relevant working permits and other necessary documents
  • Learning opportunities - certified technical training and learning platforms like Udemy, Pluralsight, and O'Reilly
  • Learning culture and excellent opportunities to develop your career within your chosen field or something altogether new
  • Varied and exciting projects to play a part in - there is always something new and exciting in the pipeline

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
