Senior Recruitment Consultant – Contract Recruitment
Contract recruitment | UK Energy sector | Office-based | Senior, warm-desk opportunity
Granite Recruitment is a specialist talent solutions provider to the UK Energy sector, supporting clients across Oil & Gas, Engineering, Renewables and the wider Energy markets.
This is a senior, high-energy recruitment role for an experienced consultant who can deliver results across an established warm contract desk. The majority of your time will be focused on resourcing: identifying, engaging and managing high-quality contractors against live and anticipated assignments. Alongside delivery, you will maintain regular, proactive contact with clients to strengthen relationships, deepen our understanding of their businesses, projects and workforce plans, and identify further opportunities to support their contract hiring needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver across an established warm contract desk: prioritise live and anticipated assignments, maintaining pace, quality and consistency across multiple requirements.
- Lead contractor resourcing: identify, approach and engage high-quality active and passive contractors through targeted search, advertising, referrals, networking and database activity.
- Build specialist contractor communities: develop long-term relationships and maintain strong, readily available talent pipelines across your market.
- Manage the end-to-end contract recruitment lifecycle: lead requirement qualification, sourcing, shortlisting, interview coordination, rate negotiation, compliance, placement, onboarding and assignment extensions.
- Provide excellent contractor care: maintain regular contact throughout assignments, resolve issues promptly and support redeployment and retention.
- Strengthen client relationships: maintain purposeful contact with hiring managers and decision-makers, building credibility and becoming a trusted contract recruitment partner.
- Deepen customer understanding: develop detailed knowledge of each client’s business, projects, workforce plans, contractor demand and future resource requirements.
- Identify additional opportunities: use insight gained through delivery and regular engagement to expand existing accounts, secure repeat requirements and grow contractor numbers.
- Provide consultative market insight: advise clients on contractor availability, market rates, competitor activity, mobilisation timescales and hiring conditions.
- Drive commercial performance: work towards ambitious margin, contractor, activity and placement targets while maintaining a strong focus on quality and long-term value.
- Support team growth: share market intelligence, contribute to best practice and demonstrate the standards expected of a senior consultant.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
