360 Recruitment Consultant – CleanTech & Energy
Manchester | Hybrid | £30,000–£40,000 + up to 30% Commission
An ambitious specialist recruitment business operating at the intersection of technology, sustainability and engineering is looking to add a talented 360 Recruitment Consultant to its Manchester team.
The business specialises in the rapidly growing CleanTech, Energy, Power, Mobility and Engineering markets, working predominantly with innovative businesses across North America.
This is not a traditional recruitment environment built around chasing hundreds of speculative vacancies.
The business operates through retained search, embedded recruitment and RPO-style partnerships, meaning consultants are plugged directly into some of the most exciting technology and engineering companies in the US and work on genuine, high-volume hiring projects.
With a significant pipeline of contracted work already secured, the successful individual will walk into an established desk with live vacancies and existing client relationships.
The Opportunity
The business was founded by an experienced recruitment professional who has spent more than a decade working within specialist engineering, technology and CleanTech recruitment.
In its first year, the business generated over $1.2m in revenue, with the majority of this coming from long-term client partnerships.
The team is now looking to grow from its current three-person structure into a deliberately small, high-performing team of around 10–15 people.
The philosophy is simple:
- Stay small.
- Work with exceptional clients.
- Deliver exceptional recruitment.
- Earn well.
- Enjoy the journey.
The successful consultant will join at an exciting point in that growth story.
They won’t be expected to build a desk from scratch. They’ll be given access to existing projects, live vacancies and established relationships, allowing them to start generating revenue quickly while developing their own client and candidate networks.
The Markets
The business operates across some of the most exciting areas of the global energy and technology market, including:
- CleanTech
- Energy
- Power
- Energy Storage
- Batteries
- Electric Vehicles & Mobility
- Robotics
- Engineering
- Hardware
- Software
- Cybersecurity
- Aerospace
- Defence
- Digital & Grid Technology
The focus is predominantly North America, particularly the US technology and engineering ecosystem.
The business works with companies ranging from early-stage venture-backed organisations through to established global businesses developing the technologies shaping the future of energy and mobility.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Working as a 360 recruitment consultant across specialist engineering and technology markets
- Managing the full recruitment lifecycle from business development through to placement
- Working on retained, embedded and RPO-style recruitment projects
- Managing multiple vacancies for individual clients rather than relying on one-off contingency roles
- Building relationships with founders, CEOs, CTOs, engineering leaders and senior hiring managers
- Sourcing and engaging highly skilled engineering and technology professionals
- Developing your own candidate networks across the US market
- Supporting clients with market intelligence and talent strategy
- Identifying opportunities to expand existing client relationships
- Conducting business development and winning new opportunities
- Taking ownership of your own delivery and commercial performance
- Potentially developing an area of specialism as the team grows

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Why This Is Different
- You’re not chasing random jobs
- The business has deliberately moved away from traditional contingency recruitment.
- Consultants work with clients on long-term partnerships, often with multiple vacancies and significant hiring requirements.
This means you’ll have genuine job flow rather than spending the majority of your time trying to convince businesses to give you a vacancy.
- You’ll work with genuinely interesting businesses
- The client base includes venture-backed companies developing new technologies across energy, mobility, robotics and infrastructure.
These are businesses that are building products and technologies designed to change the way the world moves, stores energy and powers itself.
- You can earn quickly
- Because consultants are joining established projects with live vacancies, there is no requirement to spend months building a desk before seeing financial results.
For the right individual, earning significant commission from the early stages of their tenure is achievable.
- You’ll have US exposure
- The majority of the business is North American.
The role therefore provides the opportunity to build relationships with US businesses and candidates and, for the right individuals, travel regularly to the US to meet clients and develop relationships.
- You’ll be joining a deliberately small business
- The ambition isn’t to become a recruitment corporation with hundreds of employees.
The long-term goal is to build a high-performing team of around 10–15 people where everyone is commercially successful, well rewarded and genuinely invested in the business.
That means individual contribution matters.
You won’t be one of 100 consultants fighting for attention.
The Ideal Candidate
The business is particularly interested in recruiters with around 18 months–5+ years’ experience, although the right individual with more experience will also be considered.
Previous experience within CleanTech, Energy or Engineering recruitment would be useful but is not essential.
The key requirement is that candidates have experience working on a genuine recruitment desk and understand the fundamentals of both delivery and commercial recruitment.
The ideal person will:
- Have approximately 18 months+ recruitment experience
- Have experience working a 360 desk, or be keen to develop further commercially
- Be comfortable with business development
- Have experience managing candidate processes from initial conversation through to placement
- Be commercially driven and motivated by earning potential
- Be capable of working with senior-level candidates and clients
- Be organised, proactive and self-motivated
- Want to work in a specialist rather than generalist environment
- Be comfortable working with US clients and candidates
- Have the maturity to manage a flexible working pattern
- Be ambitious without needing a traditional corporate career ladder

The business is also open to someone who has been more delivery-focused but has demonstrated the commercial awareness and ambition to develop their BD and client-facing skills.
Sector experience is less important than the quality of recruitment environment they’ve worked in and the level of people they’ve recruited.
What You’ll Get
- £30,000–£40,000 basic salary, depending on experience
- Up to 30% commission
- No artificial barriers to earning commission
- Immediate access to live, high-value recruitment projects
- Predominantly retained / embedded recruitment
- Regular exposure to the US market
- Potential for international travel
- Hybrid working, with approximately three days per week in the Manchester office
- Significant flexibility around working hours
- Direct access to the founder
- Opportunity to work alongside experienced specialist recruiters
- The chance to help shape the growth of a deliberately small, high-performing business
- Genuine opportunity to earn significant money as the business scales
The Culture
This is a business built around high performance, autonomy and commercial maturity.
There isn’t a rigid 8:30–5:30 structure.
The team understands that US recruitment can require flexibility, particularly when working with clients on the West Coast, and individuals are trusted to structure their day around delivering results.
The expectation is that people will work hard and take ownership, but there is flexibility around how they achieve that.
The business is looking for people who understand that with the opportunity to earn significant money and work with exceptional clients comes a level of commitment.
The Long-Term Vision
The ambition is not simply to add as many recruiters as possible.
The plan is to build a small team of exceptional recruiters working with exceptional clients.
As the business grows, there will be opportunities for people to take greater ownership of clients, markets and areas of expertise.
However, the focus isn’t on creating layers of management for the sake of it.
The priority is building a team where people can:
- Work with world-class companies.
- Travel internationally.
- Build exceptional recruitment careers.
- Earn significant money.
- And enjoy doing it.
For a recruiter who is looking for a more entrepreneurial environment, exposure to the US market and the opportunity to work on high-quality retained recruitment projects from day one, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
