Recruitment Consultant, AI for Science Market
Reports to: Kiera Johnson (Team Lead, AI UK)
Market focus: Product / Programme, AI for Science, UK
AI is moving out of the lab and into the heart of scientific discovery, with models now designing drugs and proteins, discovering new materials and running experiments that used to take years. It’s one of the fastest-moving parts of AI, and it’s pulling in serious funding and some of the sharpest technical minds around.
We’ve built one of our largest teams in this space, partnered with the AI labs making the headlines and trusted to hold our own in the technical conversations that matter. That head start becomes your network from the day you join.
For you, that means warm inbound off a real reputation, clients who take your call, and a specialist market where knowing it inside out makes you genuinely hard to replace.
We’re looking for a Consultant to grow the Product / Programme desk on our AI for Science team in the UK. Someone commercially minded, keen to run their own 360 desk, and ready to become the name in a niche the whole market is watching.
The role, your team, and Cubiq
You’ll join our AI team, one of our largest by headcount and revenue and one of the most respected in the business. They’re partnered with top AI lab and they hold their own in the technical conversations because they know the disciplines.
It’s a collaborative team that runs business development as a unit, which gives them a strong hit rate and a steady stream of inbound. Kiera leads it, well connected enough across AI talent circles, through her own events and podcasts, that plenty of work comes to the team by word of mouth. Every joiner over the last two years has hit their career-best deal within six months of joining.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Our way of working is to go deep into a specialist market and stay there, until clients treat us as partners rather than another agency on the PSL. Recruitment here is a career worth committing to, not a stopgap, and there’s a clear route to directorship for people who want to own a discipline and build something that lasts.
What you'll do
- Run the full 360 recruitment lifecycle across the AI for Science market
- Build lasting relationships with clients and candidates across the AI space
- Grow and maintain an active pipeline of specialist AI talent
- Identify, win and develop new business within your patch
- Advise clients on hiring strategy and talent availability as the market shifts
- Take ownership of your desk, balancing delivery with long-term business development
- Grow into the go-to specialist in AI for Science recruitment
What we're looking for
We’re after a driven 360 consultant early in their career who wants to specialise and go deep. Recruitment experience in tech or AI helps, but the mindset matters more than the background.
- At least 1 year in 360 recruitment, ideally within tech
- A genuine billing track record against target
- Proven ability to manage client and candidate relationships well
- Proactive, self-motivated and target-driven
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- The appetite to own a specialist market and go deep

The people who do best here treat their market like it’s theirs to own. They build a desk on repeat clients with a healthy pipeline behind it, and they judge themselves on results, which is exactly how they’re rewarded.
They move quickly, prioritise well, and get on with doing the job rather than chasing quick wins. In AI for Science that comes down to knowing where the best people are, how to reach them, and how to put an opportunity so it lands with someone who has no shortage of options.
Over time they become the go-to name in their niche, someone clients trust and candidates actually want to hear from. Resilience and a competitive streak help, but what really sets people apart is attitude and thinking long term.
Perks and benefits
- A market-leading, uncapped commission structure with no threshold, up to 50%
- A share scheme, so you own a slice of what you build
- Clear, transparent routes to leadership with individual progression plans
- Real investment in getting you embedded in your market: conference and event attendance, plus personal branding support
- A quarterly achievers club, two annual holiday incentives, late starts and early finishes
- A city-centre office with on-site gym, breakout spaces, pool table, bike storage and more
- Flexible working arrangements
Don't see something that matters to you? Let us know. We’re committed to bringing in the best and will be flexible with our offering if it brings us closer to achieving this.
