Pertemps Medical is a specialist healthcare recruitment provider supporting the NHS under National Framework Agreements and private hospitals across the United Kingdom. The organization focuses on supplying Doctors, Nurses, and Allied Health Professionals for permanent, temporary, and contract roles. The Role
As a Senior Recruitment Consultant, you will be responsible for managing and developing GP recruitment activity across England and Wales, working with NHS Trusts, Primary Care Networks, GP practices, and other healthcare organisations.
You will manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from business development and candidate sourcing through to placement and ongoing account management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Recruiting GPs for permanent, locum, and other flexible workforce requirements.
- Building and maintaining a strong network of GP candidates across the UK.
- Developing long-term relationships with NHS and private healthcare clients.
- Identifying new business opportunities and generating vacancies.
- Managing the full recruitment process from initial brief through to placement.
- Negotiating rates, terms, and contracts with candidates and clients.
- Providing market insight and workforce solutions to healthcare clients.
- Maintaining accurate candidate and client records in our CRM.
- Working closely with compliance and operational teams to ensure a smooth placement process.
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the recruitment team.
- Contributing to the wider growth strategy of the GP recruitment division.

About You
We are looking for someone who combines strong recruitment experience with genuine knowledge of the GP market.
You will ideally have:
- Proven experience recruiting GPs within a healthcare recruitment environment.
- A strong understanding of the UK GP/Primary Care market.
- An established network of GP candidates and/or healthcare clients.
- A proven track record in business development and winning new vacancies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work autonomously and take ownership of a recruitment desk.
- Strong commercial awareness and a results-driven approach.
- Experience working with NHS clients would be highly advantageous.
- Previous experience mentoring or supporting other recruiters would be desirable.
