Recruitment Consultant – Data & Analytics (Perm)
Hays, Technology team Southampton
We are looking for a driven and commercially minded Senior Recruitment Consultant to join our Technology team in Southampton. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a perm desk and play a key role in driving the next phase of growth within the Data & Analytics market.
The Data market continues to be one of the most active and skill-short areas within Technology recruitment, with strong demand across Data Engineering, Analytics, BI, Data Architecture and AI-related roles. By growing our current capability, we will increase market coverage, strengthen client and candidate engagement and unlock greater growth potential within a growing and resilient sector.
Your New Team
The Southampton office is a well-established, highly collaborative business with strong tenure and extensive market coverage. Within Technology, the team has built a strong reputation across Cyber, Software Development, Cloud, Infrastructure, Data and the Public Sector, underpinned by longstanding client relationships and consistent demand.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
