Location: Manchester
Reports to: US Robotics Team Lead
Market focus: US
Robotics and autonomy is one of the fastest-growing markets in tech, and the US sits right at the centre of it. It’s where the deepest funding, the boldest founders and the leading research all come together, and increasingly the money is following the software layer: the perception, autonomy and control that turn hardware into something genuinely useful.
We’ve been placing in this field for the best part of a decade, and our US desk has grown on word of mouth and the kind of success stories that industry pioneers put their name to. That head start shows in the network we can open up for you.
For you, that means high-value placements, clients who treat you as one of their own, and some of the strongest fee potential of any market we cover.
We’re looking for a Senior Consultant to own our software desk across the US robotics market: someone commercially minded, happy running their own 360, and keen to build the long-term credibility a specialist market like this rewards.
The role, your team, and Cubiq
You’ll join our US robotics team, a lean but expert group that works with startups spun out of the top US technology institutions and represents engineers who are among the best-known names in the field. The client testimonials say the rest, most of them from genuine pioneers in robotics.
What makes it a good team to join is how connected it is. The client base is almost entirely multi-hire accounts that treat the team as an extension of their own, and there’s a well-rounded EU team alongside you, so the bigger accounts open up real chances to work together. We invest heavily in getting this team on the ground in the US: out at the conferences, at the events, and on client sites in the hotbeds that matter.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Our way of operating is to go deep into a specialist market and stay there, until clients treat us as partners rather than another agency on the PSL. For us, recruitment is a career worth committing to, not a stepping stone to something else. We want people who see it the same way: who want to own a discipline, become the go-to name in it, and build a clear route toward directorship off the back of it.
What you’ll do
- Run the full 360 recruitment lifecycle across the US robotics software market.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and candidates in the software space.
- Identify, win and develop new business, turning one-off placements into repeat, multi-hire accounts.
- Represent standout software engineers to some of the best-known names in robotics.
- Deliver against live vacancies while building active candidate pipelines ahead of demand.
- Advise clients on hiring strategy, talent availability and where the market is moving.
- Grow your desk, balancing delivery with long-term business development.
What we’re looking for
- An experienced 360 recruitment consultant with a track record of billing to target. Robotics or wider deep-tech experience is a bonus, though strong software-market knowledge and the ambition to specialise matter more.
- At least 2 years’ 360 recruitment experience with a solid billing record.
- Experience recruiting in software, engineering or deep-tech markets.
- Ability to manage both client and candidate relationships effectively.
- A proactive, self-motivated and target-driven approach.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Comfortable owning a market and building it over time.

What a top performer looks like
The people who do best here run their market like it’s their own business. They grow the desk by winning new clients and turning them into repeat business, with a healthy pipeline sitting behind it.
They move quickly, they prioritise well, and they judge themselves on results, which is exactly how they’re rewarded here. In US robotics, that comes down to knowing where the best engineers are, how to reach them, and how to put an opportunity in a way that lands.
Over time they become the go-to name in their niche, someone clients trust and candidates actually want to hear from. Going that deep in a specialist market is what makes you genuinely hard to replace.
Perks and benefits
- A market-leading, uncapped commission structure with no threshold, offering up to 50%.
- A share scheme, so you own a share of what you help build.
- Clear, transparent routes to directorship, with an individualised progression plan.
- Real investment in getting you embedded: we fly you out to the US conferences, run our own events, and get you onto client sites.
- Personal branding support to help you become the name people know in your niche.
- A city-centre office with on-site gym, breakout spaces, pool table, bike storage and parking.
- Two annual holiday incentives, a quarterly achievers’ club, late starts and early finishes.
Don’t see something that matters to you? Let us know. We’re committed to bringing in the best and will be flexible with our offering if it brings us closer to achieving this.
