Department: Nursing

Location: Burston House

Compensation: £40,559 / year

Description

Priory Hospital Burston House

Full-time of 37.5 hours a week. £40,559.0

Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse with 2+ years post-registration experience within Mental Health or Learning Disability services as a minimum

This role is not suitable for newly qualified nurses or preceptorship nurses.

Due to limits on sponsorship allocations, we are not currently in a position to offer sponsorship to new candidates for these roles, this remains under review.

You will be working on the Forensic ward; however, there may be occasional requests to assist on other wards.

Priory Burston House, located in the historic market town of Diss, near the border of Suffolk, provides level 2 rehabilitation for male patients with a learning disability. Across rehabilitation and low secure care, our specialist learning disability service also cares for adults who may have complex mental health needs, including autism and personality disorders.

While transport links to the hospital are somewhat limited, a local bus service runs just past the site, providing accessible public transport for staff and visitors travelling from surrounding areas. The location remains reachable by public transport, although candidates may find access easier if travelling by car or planning their journey in advance.

What you'll be doing

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred nursing care to a defined group of patients/service users by assessing, planning, implementing, reviewing, and evaluating care in partnership with patients and their families, while acting as the named nurse and responding to individual needs and choices.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, colleagues, and external professionals, contributing to a multidisciplinary team approach and supporting quality improvement and clinical governance processes.
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous records, escalate concerns appropriately, and provide accessible information about care.
  • Support, supervise, and mentor junior, new, agency, and student staff, while undertaking leadership responsibilities including Nurse in Charge, Bed Manager, Site Coordinator, or ward lead roles when required.
  • Prioritise and delegate nursing duties effectively to maintain a safe environment, complete mandatory training and professional development requirements, and participate in regular clinical supervision and reflective practice.
  • Build positive professional relationships and respond appropriately to concerns, complaints, and challenging behaviour, while adhering to safeguarding procedures, the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Medicines Management policies, Priory Group policies, and the NMC Code at all times.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
