Location: Crowborough, East Sussex

Employment Type: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

A leading private healthcare provider is seeking an experienced Senior Registered Nurse to join their established inpatient ward team in Crowborough.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse with a background in orthopaedic or surgical care to take on a senior clinical role within a close-knit, high-performing team. You will act as a clinical role model, mentor and leader while supporting the Ward Manager and wider nursing team in delivering exceptional standards of patient care.

The role involves shift-based working, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care throughout the patient journey, ensuring safe and effective clinical outcomes.
  • Lead the clinical team on shift, managing workloads, delegation, and prioritisation to ensure safe and efficient service delivery.
  • Deputise for the Ward Manager when required and take responsibility for the smooth running of shifts.
  • Support, supervise, and mentor junior nurses and student nurses, creating a positive learning environment.
  • Provide clinical support for patients with complex needs, including appropriate escalation and decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with professional and clinical standards.
  • Contribute to clinical audits, incident reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and the development of policies and care pathways.
  • Promote effective infection prevention, safeguarding, risk management, and governance practices.
  • Support ongoing service development and evidence-based improvements to clinical practice.
  • Maintain professional accountability in line with the NMC Code and contribute to a safe, positive, and patient-focused working environment.

About You

The successful candidate will be an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse with strong clinical knowledge and the confidence to lead a team.

You Will Have

  • NMC Registered Nurse (RGN) qualification with at least 2 years post-registration experience.
  • Previous orthopaedic or surgical nursing experience is essential.
  • Recognised mentorship/Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience leading a clinical team, managing workloads, and coordinating shift operations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach with a commitment to continued professional development.
  • A compassionate and patient-centred approach to care.
  • The flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
  • A strong commitment to clinical excellence, governance, and maintaining high standards of patient care.
