Senior Regulatory Reporting Accountant

The Senior Regulatory Reporting Accountant is responsible for the preparation, review, and submission of the statutory and regulatory reporting for the Brittania, Wren, and Griffin Associations (“the associations”), including the Annual Report and Accounts, Solvency II returns, and any local GAAP reporting to regulators.

Reporting to the Head of Regulatory Reporting, the role ensures that financial information is properly prepared and disclosed in accordance with reporting requirements, maintaining regulatory compliance in all applicable jurisdictions.

The role sits within the Regulatory Reporting team of three and forms part of a wider Finance function of approximately 30. The role contributes to wider Finance initiatives and projects.

Responsibility & Impact

  • Lead the production and review of annual reports of the associations under UK GAAP, supporting schedules and notes, and provide support to the Head of Regulatory Reporting on all related financial review and analysis.
  • Prepare Lux GAAP accounts for Brittania Europe, using external advisors for support with regard to compliance matters specific to Luxembourg regulations.
  • Support the preparation of IFRS 17 accounts for the Singapore branch of Britannia Europe.
  • Provide analysis and supporting documentation for significant accounting judgements and facilitate external audit review.
  • Support the interpretation of complex transactions, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Monitor, interpret, and implement new or amended accounting standards, ensuring timely and appropriate adoption. Where material, prepare briefing papers outlining the impact for management.
  • Monitor, interpret, and implement new or amended regulatory reporting requirements (UK and Luxemburg).
  • Ensure the associations maintain compliance with the companies act requirements and any other regulatory reporting requirements. If changes occur, assess the impact and provide management with a summary prior to implementing the new requirement.
  • Act as the day-to-day point of contact for external auditors, coordinating audit deliverables and the effective resolution of audit queries.
  • Support responses to regulators where required.
  • Maintain strong financial controls within all supporting working files (review and sign-off procedures) including process documentation and reconciliations to underlying source systems where available.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, automation, and data quality.
  • Review annual corporation tax return calculations in conjunction with Head of Regulatory Reporting and Deputy CFO, coordinating all information required to finalise corporation tax returns and related submissions.
  • Provide oversight of the calculation of quarterly corporation tax instalments, ensuring accuracy, timely recognition, and payment, and appropriate tracking within the statutory accounts, policy-year reporting.
  • Support Solvency II regulatory reporting across all associations and jurisdictions.
  • Support Solvency I regulatory reporting to the CAA.
  • Support other required reporting in Luxemburg - BCL (central bank in Luxemburg) and STATEC (organisation collecting statistical information about financial services market in Luxemburg).

Clients and Stakeholders

  • Support the Actuarial team during quarterly and annual reserving processes, help drive consistency and alignment between actuarial and financial data used for reporting and disclosures.
  • Work closely with operational finance, the internal reporting team, underwriters, and other stakeholders to support high-quality financial reporting.

Essential requirements:

  • Experience working in a regulated financial services or insurance environment is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and statutory financial reporting requirements.
  • Proven experience preparing and reviewing statutory financial statements and management accounts.
  • Knowledge of SII regulatory reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with financial systems are essential.

Qualifications/Education

  • ACCA/ACA qualified (or equivalent) or qualified by experience.

Desirable requirements:

  • Experience using Oracle financial systems is desirable.
  • Knowledge of LUX GAAP.
  • The CAA reporting requirements.
