Location and flexible working: This role will be based in either our London or Edinburgh office with time spent working from home and from the office (3 days in the office per week). Flexible working: All roles are open to part-time, job-share and other types of flexibility. Salary and benefits: From £80,000 depending on experience plus bonus, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more.

The role
Working closely with the Reinsurance Operations Lead, you will support many aspects of the overall reinsurance operations journey, the role would fit somebody looking for a challenge and has experience in ensuring reinsurance arrangements are administered efficiently and accurately.

Key responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for the technical accuracy of Reinsurance Settlement reports and Collateral Valuations covering a number of longevity based products.
- Responsible for annual cleanse materials, including data changes, premium calculations and surrender amounts, ensuring technical accuracy throughout.
- Overseeing the design and implementation of sophisticated excel modelling tools to validate onboarding and accuracy of ongoing materials produced by strategic reinsurance platform.
- Development of clear, efficient and robust processes to be used by the wider team. Responsible for continuous improvement of these processes to ensure they remain appropriate.
- Responsible for working with the New Business Reinsurance team to ensure all new contracts are operationally viable prior to transaction.
- Providing mentorship and technical guidance to the team, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and professional development.
- Overseeing the design and implementation of sophisticated cashflow project models.
- Establishing and implementing processes ensuring templates are clearly documented and have a suitable audit trail and version control. Proactively adapting models and practises to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
- Fostering and maintaining collaborative relationships with all external stakeholders and internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment with regards to reinsurance contracts.
- Preparing papers and accurate management information for senior management with analysis and recommendations to support key decision-making.
- Ensuring rigorous quality assurance processes are in place for all calculations, maintaining high standards of accuracy and reliability.
- Leading initiatives and in-flight projects ensuring timely delivery and alignment with our teams objectives and principles.

What are we looking for?
- Significant experience within pensions, life insurance, longevity reinsurance or pension risk transfer environments, with a strong technical understanding of Defined Benefit pension schemes and reinsurance operations.
- Proven experience overseeing complex financial calculations, settlements, collateral valuations and reporting, with a strong focus on accuracy, controls and risk management.
- Strong analytical and modelling capability, including advanced Excel skills and experience developing tools, processes and controls to improve operational effectiveness.
- Experience working with reinsurance administration and reporting platforms, including supporting onboarding activity and ongoing operational delivery.
- Demonstrable stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across internal teams, external partners and senior stakeholders, alongside experience leading projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Applications are welcomed from qualified actuaries, part-qualified actuaries and individuals with equivalent industry experience (actuarial qualifications are not required for this role). Commercial knowledge of pension risk transfer products, including bulk annuities and longevity swaps, would be advantageous.
