Senior Remount Groom - Sandhurst

About the Role
Kick On Recruitment is recruiting experienced Senior Grooms for a high-security equestrian environment. The role involves working with various high-quality horses, including young and developing horses.
Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day leadership and support to the grooming team
- Ride, exercise, school, and lunge horses as required
- Develop horses through structured training programs
- Groom, bathe, clip, trim, and pull manes and tails
- Assist with stable management and maintain high standards
- Prepare feeds/supplements and support their management and distribution
- Present horses for veterinary and farriery inspections
- Assist with treatments as instructed by professionals
- Prepare horses and documentation for transportation
- Undertake travelling groom duties
- Assist with tacking up horses for exercise and operations
- Apply appropriate rugs and bandages
- Provide regular updates on training progress and report concerns
- Maintain accurate digital records and update management systems
- Liaise with other equestrian professionals
- Participate in emergency drills and maintain familiarity with procedures
- Provide additional support during absences and major movements
- Work essential overtime where requested and approved

Working Environment
The role is based within a high-security site. Successful candidates will be required to comply with all relevant security procedures, site rules, and operational protocols. A background check is part of the recruitment process.
Working Pattern
Core working hours: 07:00–15:30, Monday to Friday
Horse exercise should generally be completed before 12:00, with ground-based work completed by 14:00 unless under veterinary advice.
Requirements
- Strong practical experience working with horses
- Confidence riding, exercising, and schooling horses
- Experience developing young or inexperienced horses
- Ability to work confidently with horses both mounted and from the ground
- High standards of horse welfare and stable management
- Experience with grooming, clipping, and general horse preparation
- Calm, patient, and professional approach to horse handling
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work within a structured and professional environment
- Flexibility and willingness to support the wider team
- Experience working with horses requiring rehabilitation or behavioural development is advantageous

Benefits
- Salary: £30,000
- Annual Leave: 25 days’ annual leave per annum, with additional time off provided where bank holiday duties are worked
