About Us
We, at Caudal Energy, have the ambition to harness the power of our oceans and turn our pioneering tidal stream technology into a scalable source of predictable and affordable energy. Backed by leading investors and Innovate UK, we are now moving from prototype development towards commercialising our proprietary equipment at scale. Developing projects that demonstrate our technology in real-world applications is fundamental to building the evidence, customer relationships and commercial pipeline that will enable this growth.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, energetic and commercially driven Business Developer to help accelerate our growth. You will play a key role in assessing markets, developing new opportunities, building our project pipeline and strengthening relationships with customers, partners and other key stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Market assessment and development:
- Identify and develop tidal energy markets, customers, and commercial opportunities, creating tools and assets to support engagement.
- Monitor electricity markets, policy, regulation, subsidies/support mechanisms, technology costs, competitors, and emerging opportunities.
Project Origination:
- Identify and develop specific opportunities for tidal stream projects. Find suitable sites and assess seabed availability, tidal resource, grid proximity, planning constraints, environmental considerations, and development potential.
- Understand planning, permitting & grid strategy, and marine operations opportunities and constraints to incorporate into these opportunities.
- Build, qualify, prioritise, and maintain a pipeline of prospective projects from early-stage opportunity through investment/financial close.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
